How to use arrandee™/ Au(111) by flame annealing
By flame annealing 100 x 100 nm Au(111) terraces easily can be obtained following this procedure:
Best is to flame anneal in a dark room, to be able to observe the glowing of the Gold arrandee™. Use a propane/ butane flame. Hydrogen flame is to high temperature!
Take a Gold arrandee™ and place it into the flame until dark red glowing.
- Take arrandee™ out of flame and allow to cool down for approx. 30 s.
- Repeat this procedure two to three times.
- Some of our customers use a final quench process, pouring tri-dest water over the sample after final flame annealing.
- Now you will be able to find Au(111) terraces of about 100 nm in diameter separated by rough boundaries.
